In virtually every aspect of modern life, we are making extraordinary progress -- from technology, to energy, to healthcare. But there is one domain in which we are becoming steadily less capable: self-governance.
Our political system is now so dysfunctional and so divided that we can’t solve major challenges. Even worse, once bedrock democratic institutions, like free and fair elections, are now in open question.
Voters are angry and alienated, and have every right to be.
So why is our politics so broken?
