He is the Executive Director of Unite America, where over nine years he has helped scale the organization into a leading force in the democracy-reform space—mobilizing a diverse coalition and supporting reforms that are changing how elections work in states across the country.
He earned a Master’s degree in American Government from Georgetown University. In 2014, he ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s 10th District as an independent candidate, earning more than 22,000 votes and drawing national attention.
Previously, Nick co-founded The Can Kicks Back to advocate for bipartisan fiscal reforms and supported efforts including the introduction of the INFORM Act to increase federal budget transparency. He also served as National Campus Director for Americans Elect, organizing student groups at more than 300 colleges nationwide, and worked at Change.org on Change Politics, a nonpartisan platform empowering citizens to make informed electoral decisions.
Nick was named to the Forbes “30 Under 30” for Law & Policy in 2016. He has been featured in the documentaries UnRepresented, Follow the Leader, and Broken Eggs, and provides commentary across television, radio, and print media.Nick is the author of The Primary Solution, wherein Nick makes a bold proposal to abolish party primaries in our country. Published by Simon & Schuster, the book offers voters across the political spectrum a realistic roadmap to a more representative and functional democracy and describes how to fix the biggest solvable problem in American politics today: partisan primaries.
